Guardiola excuses Sterling as Man City beat Leicester in Cup shootoutby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveManchester City have reached the Carabao Cup semifinals after beating Leicester City on penalties.A poor quality shootout saw the home side miss three penalties while a dinked effort went wrong for Raheem Sterling before Oleksandr Zinchenko stepped up to emphatically thump the decisive kick into the top corner to take his side through.Pep Guardiola’s side took the lead in the first half through Kevin de Bruyne’s first goal of the season – a sweet, low drive into the bottom corner.Leicester were poor in the first half but regrouped at half-time and levelled the contest through Marc Albrighton’s well-struck effort before crumbling in the shootout.Guardiola said afterwards: “A tough game, it is always difficult at Leicester. We played with a guy who is 17 years old and some injured players, it was a good game.”Raheem took that decision [to chip his penalty], unfortunately he missed it but that is OK.”Asked about Jose Mourinho’s sacking, he added: “I am always sad for the manager when that happens. We are alone in that situation. I am close to all of the managers. You are sacked when results are not good.”He doesn’t need me, he is so strong. I wish him all the best and he will be back soon.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
Atletico Madrid coach Simeone unsurprised Bayern Munich want Lucasby Carlos Volcano10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveAtletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone isn’t surprised Bayern Munich want to sign Lucas Hernandez.Simeone was keen to turn attention onto the pitch, but repeatedly fielded questions about those who could be on their way out of the Wanda Metropolitano this winter.”We know that until the window closes we cannot be calm,” Simeone said when asked about Lucas Hernandez’s future.”There is always the possibility when you have extraordinary players that big clubs like Bayern Munich will want them.”I live in the present and today we have him, like [Diego] Godin, [Jan] Oblak, Filipe [Luis] and Juanfran.”We have to look at what really matters to us, which is Sevilla.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorCarlos VolcanoShare the loveHave your say

About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say Atletico Madrid coach Simeone: Juventus draw more than deservedby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveAtletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone insists they deserve their point with Juventus. This Champions League clash finished 2-2, after the Bianconeri were 2-0 up with Juan Cuadrado and Blaise Matuidi goals, but Atleti fought back with two headers from set plays courtesy of Stefan Savic and Hector Herrera.“We were missing something in the first half and Juve stepped up after the break, but I liked the fact we never gave in and fought back for a result,” said Cholo.“We always tried to create situations where we could hurt Juve. Jose Maria Gimenez went close, as did Vitolo and Angel Correa, so it was a more than deserved point.“I don’t see this draw as a good or bad result. Juve are very strong opponents with a lot of experience and an average age of 29 compared to our 24. Experience helps at this level and that is why matches like this can help us mature for what awaits in future.“The important thing is not to lose intensity during the game and to maintain faith in our characteristics.”
Kane raps teammates as England slide to first qualifying defeat in ten yearsby Paul Vegas14 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveTottenham striker Harry Kane rapped team-mates as England slid to their first qualifying defeat in ten years.Skipper Kane gave Gareth Southgate’s men a perfect start with a fifth-minute penalty before the Czech Republic’s pair Jakub Brabec and Zdenek Ondrasek rocked the Three Lions.Kane fumed: “It was down to us. We went ahead early and had the perfect start to an away game. After that we were sloppy with the ball, they scored not long after, and we just didn’t move it as quickly as we normally do.“We weren’t fighting, we weren’t pressing as much as we do. Allardyce: Why would Pochettino quit Spurs for Man Utd?by Freddie Taylor10 days agoSend to a friendShare the loveFormer Bolton, Everton and England boss Sam Allardyce has questioned why Mauricio Pochettino would leave Tottenham for Manchester United. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in danger of losing his job at United, several reporters have linked Pochettino to the top job at Old Trafford.Given the poor form of Tottenham, it is possible that a Pochettino exit could happen in the winter or summer. But Allardyce believes the Argentine coach would be better off staying put because Spurs have a superior squad to United.Metro quote “Big Sam” as saying: “I can’t see Mauricio going anywhere at the moment.”Tottenham are a better squad than Manchester United – and that is a telling fact.”It’s alright saying, ‘this is Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world’. Two weeks ago, world-famous web animator Monty Oum, who worked for an Austin-based production company called Rooster Teeth, passed away unexpectedly after suffering an allergic reaction during a routine medical procedure that left him in a coma. In response, his employer asked that anyone who was looking to pay tribute did so creatively – instead of simply sending flowers or gifts.Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns, who are also based in Austin, have obliged. YouTube/Colin CowherdOn his show, FOX Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd has been going through the schedules of major college football programs and giving his early projections for the upcoming season. He likes Michigan and USC this fall, but when it comes to the Wisconsin Badgers, his breakdown is not nearly as encouraging.Cowherd’s four biggest factors that play into his prediction are:1. The loss of defensive coordinator Dave Aranda to LSU.2. The graduation of Joel Stave.3. Wisconsin’s schedule: “the toughest schedule I think I’ve seen in the Big Ten in years.”4. The defense is strong in the back, a bit weaker up front. Here is Cowherd’s full breakdown: That is a 6-6 season, with wins over Akron, Georgia State, Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue, and Minnesota, and losses to Alabama, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Iowa, and Northwestern. He’s not wrong about the schedule; the Badgers play the four best teams from the 2015 Big Ten season in a row from September 24 to October 22. Yikes.
Philippe Coutinho says he is unsure where he will be playing next season as speculation continues to mount over his Barcelona future. The Brazil international had an underwhelming first full campaign at Camp Nou, contributing five LaLiga goals and two assists.Coutinho acknowledged earlier this week he needs to improve to justify his hefty price tag, with Barcelona paying a fee that could rise to £142 million to sign him from Liverpool in January 2018. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)Earlier this week, Clemson benched quarterback Kelly Bryant in favor of true freshman QB Trevor Lawrence. That decision by Dabo Swinney is under heavy scrutiny on Saturday afternoon after Lawrence left the game with an injury.Bryant could have hopped in as the team’s backup, but the senior decided to announce his transfer rather than sit on the sideline for the remainder of his career. He was afforded that opportunity by the new redshirt rule that allows players to redshirt if they’ve played fewer than four games in a season. With Clemson trailing Syracuse and Trevor Lawrence out of the game, many are calling for Kelly Bryant to come back to the program. But can he?According to Dennis Dodd, the answer is yes.Am told IF Kelly Bryant hasn’t withdrawn and IF he wanted to come back, there is a reinstatement process where he could return to Clemson.— Dennis Dodd (@dennisdoddcbs) September 29, 2018Now the question becomes, would he want to come back? We’ll have to wait and see. Meanwhile, Clemson trails 23-20 with just under nine minutes left in the game.

That makes his appreciation for Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts all the more interesting, though Hurts has deep SEC roots, of course. In an appearance on Get Up, Finebaum identified the former Alabama quarterback as his top candidate to win the Heisman. He had Hurts as his first pick, Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence second, and Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa third.Jalen Hurts may be just about the only player who Paul Finebaum respects more after leaving the SEC. Via 247Sports:“Jalen Hurts has been spectacular. Maybe there’s a little bit of my heart wanting him to win because of what he’s been through and his resiliency. He’s just shown that he deserves it and I think he’s going to be in New York.”But he stopped short of saying that Hurts’ strong season would translate to a top selection in the NFL. “Everyone loves Jalen Hurts,” Finebaum said. “He may very well win the Heisman Trophy, but he will not be the No. 1 pick in the draft. Jalen Hurts has not quite gotten there yet. He has surprised a lot of people with his resilience, but it would be one of the biggest upsets ever if he went from nowhere to No. 1 in a short period of time.”A Heisman Trophy winner has been the No. 1 overall draft pick in three of the last five NFL Drafts. The last three Heisman Trophy winners from Oklahoma have all gone first overall, including Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray in the last two years.Whether Hurts winds up with a big NFL contract remains to be seen. Right now though, he looks like one of the best players in all of college football.[247Sports]

Well, the company has some more and interesting things in stock for you then. Google is reportedly working on the toned down or lighter version of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. These phones are expected to be Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite. Past rumours have already revealed a lot about the specs and design of both these phones, now some information related to the launch of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3XL Lite are circulating on the internet.According to sources close Android Police website, Google will be launching the Pixel 3 Lite and the Pixel 3XL Lite in the U.S in spring 2019. This means that the lighter version of Pixels will be launching around the month of April or May in the United States. The report didn’t reveal details about the India launch of these Pixel phones but we expect them to come to India almost at the same time when the phones plan to hit the US stores like happened with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.The report noted, “Speaking to a source familiar with the company’s plans, we’ve learned that Google intends to launch two new Pixel smartphones on Verizon in early spring 2019 – the Pixel 3 and 3 XL “Lite.” An exact announcement date and pricing are not yet known.” The upcoming Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite are the first mid-range Pixel phones from Google after the Nexus 5X, which launched back in the year 2015.advertisementLast month some pictures of the Pixel 3 Lite were leaked alongside the key specifications of the phone. The Pixel 3 Lite seen in the images is a pre-production unit so there could some design changes in the final version of the phone. The leaked pictures show the phone with single rear camera paired with single LED flash. Below the rear camera, the pictures reveal the Pixel 3 Lite will include a circular shaped fingerprint sensor. The overall design of the Pixel 3 Lite is expected to be pretty similar to the Pixel 3. The pictures, however, show the Pixel 3 Lite in white colour while the lock key appears in yellow and the volume keys painted in white.Rumours suggest that just like the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL, the upcoming mid-range Pixel phone will also run on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. As far as the specs are concerned, the Pixel 3 Lite is expected to sport a 5.56-inch full-HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels and aspect ratio of 18.5:9. There’s still some confusion surrounding the chipset that Google is planning to use to power the Pixel 3 XL but rumours suggest that the phone will either be powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 or Snapdragon 710 SoC.The Pixel 3 Lite will come only in one variant which will be paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which should be expandable via microSD card. Camera has always been one of the best things of a Pixel phone. Similar will be the case with the Pixel 3 Lite and also the Pixel 3 XL Lite. Rumours suggest that the Pixel 3 Lite will pack the same camera setup as is inside the Pixel 3. This means the Pixel 3 Lite will sport a 12-megapixel rear camera paired with an LED flash and an 8-megapixel camera on the front for clicking selfies. The phone is expected to be backed by a 2,915mAh battery paired with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ support and 3.5mm headphone jack.As for the pricing details, there’s no official information from Google yet. Have to learn from mistakes I made today as captain: Smriti MandhanaSmriti Mandhana debuted as India’s captain with a 41-run loss against England in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.advertisement ANI GuwahatiMarch 4, 2019UPDATED: March 5, 2019 00:12 IST Smriti Mandhana said she will be more “pro-active” as a captain in the next T20I vs England. As a captain, I’ve to learn from the mistakes I made today else I won’t learn. I won’t be able to improve as a captain,” she said after the match.”We had two sets of plans for each batter if the first wasn’t working we were going to the second plan. We’ll plan better and I’ll be more pro-active next time,” she added.Chasing the mammoth total, Indian top order was not able to provide a good start as they lost three quick wickets. England at regular intervals kept on taking wickets and India fell like a pack of cards.”In the opening, we lost a wicket in the third over, then I too lost my wicket. So there was a difference in the start which was visible on the scoreboard,” she said.”In T20s two wickets should not fall in the span of three or four balls. We lost our top three batters in the span of three balls. I think that makes the batting order look very thin. As a batting unit, we should take the responsibility to chase this kind of total,” Mandhana pointed out.advertisement”As a batswoman, I feel top four are playing for a long time now. Me, Mithali (Raj), Jemimah (Rodrigues) we’ll have to take more responsibility to bat through and take the team through because we have to give cushions to youngsters,” the debut captain said.Captain @mandhana_smriti acknowledges the support the Indian team recieved in Guwahati today for the 1st T20I. She hopes to see an even larger number and wants to provide them with an improved show on 7th March. #INDvENG pic.twitter.com/hKL0QUPv1dBCCI Women (@BCCIWomen) March 4, 2019Talking about the inconsistency in the middle-order, the Southpaw said she “will have a chat with Raman Sir [Head Coach] and see how it goes”.”Deepti [Sharma] is really important batter for us. She’s been very flexible to change her positions. In T20s it is difficult to have the same batting order as it depends on the situation. We might send Deepti even early say two down maybe afterwards. The way she batted today (23-ball 22*), hopefully she can take her game more forward and win the matches for India when we are just 20-30 runs short,” she said.Harleen Deol, who replaced Harmanpreet in the three ODIs, earned her maiden India call-up for the T20I series as well. Playing in her first game, Deol seemed confident but could not settle as she was dismissed off fast bowler Katherine Brunt under third over of the match.”As a captain, I don’t look at the way she was out. The way she was batting, she looked very positive and good. I don’t think there is any problem in that. I just want players to look confident because if they are confident enough I don’t look at what they have scored. It was her first match, just to expect her to go out and get a hundred is too much. She will definitely get her chances.””If you look at the number of matches everyone has played, it is just six to eight. I don’t think it the right time to experiment, we’ll have to stick to same batting order. We’ll give them more game time to prove themselves. When I came in the team, I don’t think I started scoring in the second or third match. So everybody will get their chances but I’s looking to win the matches rather than experimenting. We won’t be looking at too many changes because of one loss,” Mandhana said.India, with 0-1 down, will lock horns with England for the second T20I on March 7 at the same venue. Also Read | Not worried about stats vs England, hoping for a better show in 2nd T20I: MandhanaAlso Read | Jhulan Goswami back on top in ICC ODI rankings, Smriti Mandhana attains career-best pointsAlso Read | India thrashed by England on Smriti Mandhana’s T20I captaincy debutadvertisementFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports. Next UEFA Champions League: Manchester United complete stunning comeback to shatter PSGRomelu Lukaku scored a brace as Marcus Rashford converted a VAR-penalty to give Manchester United a 3-1 away victory over Paris Saint-Germain. It’s what we do, that’s Man United, that’s the Champions League, it’s what it does.”” said Solskjaer, who was managing Norwegian club Molde before getting the call to replace Mourinho in December.”It’s a typical Manchester United night. We had a game plan and the belief in the boys was what we hoped for. Everyone shares a huge pride. The players were focussed, they listened to all the instructions and they knew that we had to defend well. There was a lot of quality.”While United march on, PSG are left to wonder how, yet again, they have failed in Europe despite spending millions to put together a team that crushes all domestic opposition. They had lost only two of their last 50 European games at the Parc des Princes but have still yet to reach even the semi-finals of the Champions League.”The plan was to get the first goal, be in the game with 10 minutes to go,” Solskjaer said and he could not have scripted it any better as Romelu Lukaku intercepted a weak back pass from Thilo Kehrer, rounded Gianluigi Buffon and slid the ball into the empty net after two minutes.Time to hear from @MarcusRashford on THAT penalty… #MUFC pic.twitter.com/SMaetOmctLManchester United (@ManUtd) March 7, 2019NO SURPRISEPSG dominated possession, though, and with United’s defence all over the place, it was no surprise when Juan Bernat knocked in Kylian Mbappe’s cross to level after 12 minutes. The hosts continued to control the game but United took the advantage again with their next chance when Buffon failed to deal with a fierce, low Rashford shot and Lukaku poked home the rebound late in the first half.PSG, with injured Brazil striker Neymar watching from the stands, had all the ball in the second half without ever looking very threatening and seemingly settling for their 3-2 aggregate lead, while United were disciplined and tireless in defence. The visitors started to press forward in the final 10 minutes, with little joy, until Diogo Dalot fired in a speculative long-range shot that was blocked by the leaping Presnel Kimpembe.Nobody except Dalot seemed to notice the handball but the referee called for a review and pictures showed that the ball hit the back of Kimpembe’s arm as he jumped.Alter a lengthy wait, the penalty was awarded.”To be a part of those celebrations is fantastic.”Here’s a word from Ole #MUFC pic.twitter.com/gkzhr6z8fyManchester United (@ManUtd) March 6, 2019England striker Rashford, who had never taken a penalty in a competitive game for United, kept his nerve during the long delay to smash it past Buffon.PSG desperately pushed for the goal that would have sent them through in a further four minutes of play but United held firm and celebrated wildly with their fans when the whistle sounded. In contrast, the stunned home players sunk to the ground in disbelief at a near-silent stadium.”It is very hard to lose, very hard to accept,” said PSG coach Thomas Tuchel, the latest to fail to deliver the European glory the club’s Qatari owners have invested so much to achieve.advertisement”If you lose a game like this it’s horrible and cruel because we did not deserve to go out after those 180 minutes.”Also Read | Real Kashmir FC insist on playing rematch against Minerva Punjab in SrinagarAlso Read | Changes in football rules: No time wasting during substitution, handball to be punishedFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
