first_imgAfter the Raiders upset win over the Cowboys in the NRL last weekend, hearts are certainly pumping in the nations capital and the trip to Melbourne to face the Storm on June 18, now has some added spice. TFA Chairman Michael Sparks and Victorian Technical Director, Michael Lovett, have been working with the Melbourne Storm side to organise the scheduling of a 30 minute Touch game at Olympic Park as a curtain raiser to the Storm vs Radiers match. While the details are not all confirmed yet, TFA will be promoting this opportunity to it’s fullest as the event draws near…so keep your eye on the website for more information! The NSW Country Championships saw 101 teams hit Dubbo, with several interstate teams taking part in the round matches before competing against each other in the Interstate Challenge on the final day. Wagga Wagga are undoubtedly the strength of Country NSW claiming the double in both the Mens and Womens Open. The University of Southern Queensland are sending a mixed side to the Northern Uni Games, with several experienced Australian junior representatives and Queensland Origin players. Rugby Union have the Wallabies, in League they are the Kangaroos, while the basketballers are the Boomers and the Opals…and I’ve heard of some side called the Socceroos??? But what about our National Touch sides? TFA are after suggestions of either names or a mascot for our National sides heading to the 2007 World Cup in South Africa. In news from the Northern Territory the NT Secondary Schools Championships are set to be held in Alice Springs this Wednesday to Friday, with NT teams being selected for the National Secondary School Championships being held in Perth this October. Later this week TFA will be approaching all members who have subscribed to the TFA website email database and asking them to complete an online survey on the 2006 NTL package shown on Fox Sports. The survey is aimed at providing feedback on the package, it’s value and quality. If you would like to take part in the survey you will need to subscribe on the front page of the TFA website today. If you tend to be an affiliate hopper in NSW, that may no longer be you, as the NSWTA Board have introduced a new affiliate representative transfer rule. Check out NSW Touch for all of the info.
